Board of Directors (2014/2015 Season)

Diana Robertson, President

Diana has spent over 25 years in marketing and is the Principal, Creative Director of Placemaker Marketing. Diana is an artist and designer at heart and brings a wealth of marketing and promotional expertise to the Sunshine Coast Dance Society.

Yvette Cormier, Treasurer

Yvette has been active in dance on the coast for many years, as a recreational dance student, and a performer with the Dance Society, the Coast Contemporary Dancers, DS Dance, Coast Academy of Dance, and numerous community groups.

In her professional life, she holds a Financial Management Diploma and CGA designation, and is currently Owner/CFO of Sytek Enterprises Inc. in North Vancouver, B.C.

Yvette has been Treasurer of the Dance Society since 2007, a position that allows her to combine her professional skills with her passion for dance, in contributing to the promotion of dance on the Sunshine Coast.

Brittany Robertson, Secretary

Born and raised a dancer on the Sunshine Coast, Brittany brings a deep passion for dance to the SCDS. Brittany has performed in the original Celebration of Dance shows, with the Coast Contemporary Dancers, DS Danse, and with a number of local dance and theatre productions. Brittany also teaches hip hop, and yoga.

Maggi Guzzi, Past President & Director

Maggie has a degree in dance from S.F.U. and has taught dance, drama and gymnastics for over twenty years. In 1995 she received the Gillian Lowndes award for achievement in the arts, and has choreographed for the Music Society, Dance Society, Coast Academy of Dance, Dance Works Academy and collaborated with a variety of independent artists.

She recently worked with Gord Halloran on his ‘Ice Gate Sculpture’ project for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, choreographing a flash mob piece with Brittany Robertson, Jean-Pierre Makoso, and Gerardo Avilia. More than 70 dancers from the Coast performed in the Torch Relay ceremony in Sechelt and in Richmond for the unveiling of Halloran’s amazing sculpture. Maggi is inspired by the work of all artists/dancers and loves the experience of sharing the colors, the culture and the process of discovery with the community.

Shelly Elston, Director

Shelly has danced for many years in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. In her travels across Canada, dance has always brought her a sense of community and connection through the language of movement. When not dancing, mountain biking, running or walking her dogs, Shelly is a Project Manager for the Government of Canada.
